Guitarist and Composer Rez Abbasi brings his explosive group, Invocation, to Painted Bride for the second time. Joined by alto saxophonist Rudresh Mahanthappa, pianist Vijay Iyer, bassist Johannes Weidenmüller, drummer Dan Weiss, Abbasi will present new material commissioned by Chamber Music America that further mingles the Qawwali sounds of his Pakistani heritage with contemporary jazz.
Invocation is Rez Abbasi (guitar), Rudresh Mahanthappa (saxophone), Vijay Iyer (piano), Johannes Weidenmüller (bass), and Dan Weiss (drums).
